Perfect Affiliate

tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , and

Debra Rabin has written a new article for AffiliateClassroom that outlines the features of the Perfect Affiliate.

Some of the qualities discussed in the article include profitability, an eye for success, research, relationships and communications … amoung other attributes.

It’s a good read and represents the point-of-view of the Merchant. Affiliates might get a better understanding of what the Merchants wants in their relationship with you. I think any time, the two sides can get a better understanding of each other, the better this business is. Feel free to add your thoughts on it too!

Tagged From 5 Stars

tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , and

I’m SO tagged!

I didn’t even see it coming … suddenly there she was! Linda Buquet with that smile of hers, politely pinging me to let me know that I should consider myself tagged. Wicked wench! LOL

So, here’s the deal. There’s a tag game going around where bloggers have to share five things about themselves that most readers wouldn’t know, and then tag five other bloggers mercilessly.

5 Things You Didn’t Know About Bobbie Grennier

1) Like Linda Buquet, my dad wanted to name me Linda Loo after his favorite gravel truck too! Thankfully the buoy industry was doing better than gravel that year, and so “Bob”-bie was the agreed upon name.

2) I’m very allergic to all alcohol. I love the taste of beer, so besides being a big bummer, it also makes attending affiliate events not so much fun as the others guys seem to be having.

3) I used to be a school teacher and I love helping people learn new things, but you probably know that last bit since I created the Affiliate Guild to help affiliates learn the ropes.

4) If you phone me you’re very likely to hear birdies chriping and doggies barking from time to time. I’ve got a full on zoo in my office and feeding the animals is required … Starbucks for their trainer.

5) I live near the coastal redwoods of California, so my favorite past time is hiking in the woods. I never weary of just how special and beautiful these giant trees are.

Here are my blog tag predecessors. I was tagged by Linda Buquet who was tagged by Anik Singal who was tagged by Rosalind Gardner, who was tagged by Jeremy Palmer, who was tagged by Scott Jangro.

Now I’m passing the torch to Ros Phillips of LinkConnector, Arlene & James Martell of Affiliate Bootcamp, Tom Avery of RevenueSource Affiliate Forums, Stephen Ralph of Top-Affiliate.com and Marifer Vergara from the queenofcheap.com.

Full Disclosure - The Full Montey

tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , and

I was reading a very interesting article on TechCrunch tonight and thought it was news worthy, and when I saw that PayPerPost was offering me a few bucks to chat about this article that didn’t hurt either. Always nice to get paid for chatting about things I enjoy chatting about. The article is titled “PayPerPost Does Something Right” and it’s referring to the PayPerPost blog. The article is leaking the news that this coming Monday, PayPerPost will be making a significant policy change … and according to Michael Arrington it’s a positive change.

Even more so, I whole heartedly agree with the soon to be announced change.

As of Monday, bloggers who write for PayPerPost will be required to disclose that they are being paid for their posts.

I’ve started to blog about this topic a little when I wrote A Few Posts Here and There, and not because I knew change was coming. I didn’t. I think it’s the ethical thing to do. I think that when a blogger is earning some income through using their posts to feature advertisers, then they should disclose it. We’re kind of the Paul Harvey’s of the blogging world if we don’t make that distinction.

This move by PayPerPost is most likely related to the FTC’s moves to force disclosure of word-of-mouth advertisements.

I actually think a Disclosure Policy is and should be in the making for every blog that runs advertisements on them … and I mean every blog.

Affiliate Tips for Blogs

tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , and

I was reading a few relevant tips from Darren at ProBlogger about some Do’s and Dont’s for professional business blogs. I wanted to pass on his wisdoms because I think that they’re right on the money, no pun intended.

These are the same strategies I use on my blogs Affiliate Blogger, Affiliate Marketers and Affiliate Blog.

The topic was about what to do if you have viewers coming to your blog, but they never buy anything through you. The advice is sage:

  • Product relevancy and quality - unless the products you’re promoting relate to the content/topic of your blogging you’re wasting your time. Not only should they be relevant - they should be quality affiliate products. Don’t get sucked into promoting something just because it relates to your site. Test it for yourself and if it’s rubbish - stay clear. You can hurt your own reputation by recommending second rate products.
  • Traffic - the more people that see the promotions you run the better. While traffic isn’t the only factor, it is certainly a big one. Work at drawing people to your blog and particularly to the pages that you are featuring affiliate promotions on.
  • Placement - affiliate links IN content tend to out perform promotions that you run in sidebars or banner ads. One genuine review of the product (see next point) seen by a handful of readers can be much more powerful than a banner at the top of your blog seen by many readers.
  • Your reputation and ‘Sales Pitch’ - I find that affiliate products work best for me on sites where I have a loyal readership of people who respect what I say and when I give genuine recommendation that show not only the positives of a product but the weaknesses in it. The way you promote the product is as influencial as almost anything else. Don’t hype, don’t lie and don’t spin it.

Aaron Wall Sucks … A Little

    tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , and

Well this blog caught my attention with the glaring Aaron Wall Sucks title:

Aaron Wall used to be the SEO Forum moderator for my V7 Network forums.
He was the best SEO forum moderator V7N ever had. He was extremely knowledgable, helpful and his posting style was fun / hilarious. He’d say things like this and this.
Then he went and became Mr Serious and Mr Famous SEO. (… comments edited here)

Yesterday stumbled across a forum post where one member suggested that people should NOT buy Aaron’s SEO Book. The logic offered was that more insightful wisdom was available on SEO forums.
I’ve read Aaron’s SEO book a few times, and each time I learn something. Sure, you can learn a lot on SEO forums. But typically the noise-to-signal ratio on SEO forums is horrible. Read the SEO book and you’ll get a lot more knowledge for the time you spend.
While you’re downloading the ebook, you might want to explore some other areas of Aaron’s fine website, such as his collection of SEO tools and his SEO Glossary. And perhaps sign up for his affiliate program.

    Easy Peasy Blogging

    tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , and

There’s a reason they call me the Affiliate Blogger, because have I got an affiliate blogging affiliate program for you!

Try saying that ten times really fast!!!

Listen up now, how would you like to earn some extra income for your blogging efforts? Yeah, I saw your ears wiggle.

Have you got a blog that’s got a decent page rank posts at least 20+ posts a month and is at least 90 days old? Yes, you may proceed. No, read on anyhow and when your blog matures come back to this idea.

So, here’s the concept. You’re going to blog anyhow, right?! So, why not pick a few topics to blog about where you earn a few bucks for your efforts.

You could be earning blog money if you qualify to be part of the PayPerPost.com team of paid bloggers. It’s stupid silly easy if you follow their guidelines and provides a service for their merchants as you help them get a buzz on about their products or services.

    Content Monitization

    tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , and

Google toss you out on your ear for no good reason? And now you’re looking for another way to monitize your website or your blog?

You should probably take a look at Triond.

Triond is a fairly new content monitization service and covers a wide range of topics:

      1. Recreation
      2. Gaming
      3. Computers
      4. Kids and Teens
      5. Politics
      6. Graphic Design
      7. Social Sciences
      8. Sports
      9. Cooking
      10. News

There are probably more topics, but that should give you some idea of their range to see if your content can match their ads. They’re looking for unique content to publish, so if you’re a writer this is probably a good match for you.

Seems like a straight foward system for publishers. You write content, submit it, if approved they publish it on websites that match the content and that generates revenue all the way around.
