Performancing Goes PayPerPost

tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , and

PayPerPost announces the purchase of Performancing, and Performancing announces their partial acquisition by PayPerPost. All these bits and parts add up to a lot of pieces that when put together will make PayPerPost a much stronger company. The paid to post blogging model of advertising is proving to be an amazing way of spreading the word about … well, about anything and everything. It’s no wonder that PayPerPost is stretching it’s reach to include much of Performancing.

So, what parts didn’t PayPerPost buy?

According to Nick Wilson of Performancing, the purchase does not include their Partners Ad Network, nor their PFF.

What it does include is the Performancing Metric technology, the domain name Performancing.com, and the Performancing Exchange technologies.

The chat amongst the blogging community is mixed as always. It’s controversy and we bloggers live for these moments. Some are delighted that PPP will now have the type of metrics that will afford them huge amounts of blog statistics, and that’s what Marketing professionals live for. Others see any chumming by Performancing with PPP to be beyond their grasp to comprehend. But when the dust settles, what we now know as Performancing will be moving over to PPP. PayPerPost’s bloggers will now be able to track visitor stats and monitor AdSense auditing for their blogs.

The parts of Performancing not sold will find a new domain and brand identity … also something Marketing professionals live for.

Let’s face it guys, the landscape of blog advertising has changed forever. The world of professional blogging has just expanded by another 28,000 bloggers.

800 Numbers Free To Bloggers

tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , and

I received a challenge, a paid challenge no less, from TollFreeNumbers.com to try out their services and review their website on our blog. I don’t normally take up such challenges, but they gave us a free toll free number too and well, when they said they’d backlink back to the Affiliate Guild … that’s too good to pass up.TollFreeNumbers.com finds businesses Toll Free 800 Numbers and even tries to find them numbers that spell out words. My challenge was to find myself an 800 number using their online lookup tools system and then, activate it.Toll Free numbers valid in the U.S. and Canada onlyIn using the TollFreeNumbers lookup tool, I found it to be easy to use and quick to respond (I’m on DSL). After the first four attempts to find a phone number, it prompted me to email me some other possibilities for the names I’d chosen.

Where I got a little confused was how do I get one of those long numbers that says it all like the ones in thier testimonials? So, I clicked the “tips” button on the lookup tool.

What I found was a nice creative suggestions page, and what I didn’t know is that you’re not limited to seven digits. Well, you are, but the advice is to think longer if need be. The person calling your 800 number will push in all the needed numbers and few more … the result will be the same … your 800 line will ring!

I spent about an hour of my time playing with different word combinations to match the overall theme of my businesses and the one I decided upon was 888-SEO-WRITER … that pretty much sums up what I do for a living really. I writer highly targeted content for affiliate niche websites, blogs and more. Need a writer? Now, you can contact me!

You can get a free eBook from them too called Phone Numbers That Make Money.

Full Disclosure - The Full Montey

tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , and

I was reading a very interesting article on TechCrunch tonight and thought it was news worthy, and when I saw that PayPerPost was offering me a few bucks to chat about this article that didn’t hurt either. Always nice to get paid for chatting about things I enjoy chatting about. The article is titled “PayPerPost Does Something Right” and it’s referring to the PayPerPost blog. The article is leaking the news that this coming Monday, PayPerPost will be making a significant policy change … and according to Michael Arrington it’s a positive change.

Even more so, I whole heartedly agree with the soon to be announced change.

As of Monday, bloggers who write for PayPerPost will be required to disclose that they are being paid for their posts.

I’ve started to blog about this topic a little when I wrote A Few Posts Here and There, and not because I knew change was coming. I didn’t. I think it’s the ethical thing to do. I think that when a blogger is earning some income through using their posts to feature advertisers, then they should disclose it. We’re kind of the Paul Harvey’s of the blogging world if we don’t make that distinction.

This move by PayPerPost is most likely related to the FTC’s moves to force disclosure of word-of-mouth advertisements.

I actually think a Disclosure Policy is and should be in the making for every blog that runs advertisements on them … and I mean every blog.

Going Full Montey

tagged , , , , , , , , , , , and

As some of you know the FTC has made moves to force disclosure of word-of-mouth advertisements. This namely affects bloggers, newletters, ezines and discussion groups … places online where there is a mix of word-of-mouth communication and advertisiments.

I’ve been blogging a little about it myself, and getting paid to do it too I will gladly say.

Here are the links to my posts on this topic: A Few Posts Here and There and
Full Disclosure - Full Montey.

Not every post I make on this particular blog is a paid post, only a few are. But, I think it’s fair and ethical to develop a page dedicated to a Disclosure Policy.

On Monday, there’s going to be a lot of announcements about Disclosure Policies and so, I thought I’d help out the Affiliate Guild and 5 Star folks who might be affected by the FTC’s changes.

A new website has been created to help you develop your own Disclosure Policy and I highly recommend you go there and get your Disclosure Policy done and posted as soon as possible. The advertisers will be requiring it becuase the FTC will require them to only do business will those who disclosed the they are being paid.

Some of you might know who Paul Harvey is. He’s an longtime radio personality. If you’ve ever listened to his show, it’s really hard to tell where his news starts and where his ads take over. He presents ads in the same tone and along side the news. It’s very confusing to people listening to his show.

Bloggers and others, who are paid for their word-of-mouth ads are confusing to their readers … when is it a post that’s paid and when is it not.

We don’t want to be the Paul Harvey’s of the Internet.

There’s nothing wrong with paid ads, and there’s nothing wrong with disclosing that they are paid ads or that your site is running paid ads.

A Few Posts Here and There

tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , and

You might have noticed a new little ad in the upper right hand of this blog advertising for PayPerPost.PayPerPost is an ads on blogs service.

If you’re interested in getting paid for some of your blog posts, then go up there and click on that ad now!

Otherwise, continue to read more as I share a few comments about paid posting on this blog and yours.

First of all, I think it’s important for you to be very honest with your readers about the fact that you will occasionally post blog topics where you’ve been paid to talk about their topic.

I think it’s important that you find relevant topics if you’re going to take these paid opportunities. Stay true to what your blog is all about.

this blog happens to be about Affiliate Marketing, so when I do take a paid posting opportunity it will be focused of the Affiliate Industry in some manner.

Paid posts do two really nice things as far as I’m concerned. One, they offered an opportunity for the guy interested in paying for a link to his product or service. It’s an equitable way to get backlinks.

The second is that it offers the blogger a way to value to amount of time and loyalty keeping blog takes. I love blogging, and I think it’s wicked fun, but it doesn’t pay the bills. So, having an opportunity to throw in a few paid post helps to pay for the costs associated with keeping a blog in the first place.

Aaron Wall Sucks … A Little

tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , and

Well this blog caught my attention with the glaring Aaron Wall Sucks title:

Aaron Wall used to be the SEO Forum moderator for my V7 Network forums.
He was the best SEO forum moderator V7N ever had. He was extremely knowledgable, helpful and his posting style was fun / hilarious. He’d say things like this and this.
Then he went and became Mr Serious and Mr Famous SEO. (… comments edited here)

Yesterday stumbled across a forum post where one member suggested that people should NOT buy Aaron’s SEO Book. The logic offered was that more insightful wisdom was available on SEO forums.
I’ve read Aaron’s SEO book a few times, and each time I learn something. Sure, you can learn a lot on SEO forums. But typically the noise-to-signal ratio on SEO forums is horrible. Read the SEO book and you’ll get a lot more knowledge for the time you spend.
While you’re downloading the ebook, you might want to explore some other areas of Aaron’s fine website, such as his collection of SEO tools and his SEO Glossary. And perhaps sign up for his affiliate program.

Model Ship Building

tagged , , , , , and

Here’s a nice niche on building a ship model and well, all sorts of other models as well.I came across theoldgiftshop.com, and once again there’s no affiliate program for us to take advantage of.

I’m just going to keep pointing these niches out and hope that there are some affiliate sales teams reading my blog and looking for leads.

This site has some very upscale museum type models for the choosing, and I think the website itself could easily increase their profit margin by about 20% if they added an affiliate program to their bag of tricks.

Affiliates, when you see a niche you want to explore, you know you can go talk to the merchants too!

Gift Card Swaping

tagged , , , , , and

What a freaking great idea for an online business Swapagift.com has come up with.Just when you thought you’d seen it all, here is a new business that allows and encourages you to sell or swap unwanted and unused gift cards.

Oh yeah, you know all those people who couldn’t be bothered to take the time to buy you a proper Christmas present, but instead grab a gift card for an iPod tunes download while they’re standing in line at the grocery store … and you don’t even own an iPod.

Here’s your saving grace. Offload those what-were-they-thinking gift cards using the Swapagift.com service.

Again, I don’t see an affiliate program on this business yet. But I do have to give them a nod for getting featured on the Good Morning America TV show on ABC.

Gift card swapping … I’m still in shock. Who would have thunk it?!

There a few options for what you can do with you gift card. You can list it and sell it, you can sell it directly to them too, you can sell it through one of their 250 brick and mortar locations, and you can trade cards.

They will also allow you to buy other’s gifts cards at a reduced rate. Wait a minute … those cards are like cash … so that’s like getting more cash in your pocket than if you’d bought the card for yourself originally. I might feel a little eBay trading business coming on here???!!!!

Okay, so if Santa Claus didn’t bring you the gift card that you really wanted this year, you can wander on over to Swapagift.com and trade them for the ones you did want … or something at least, that works better for you.

They have a swappers/buyers protection policy for transactions up to $100 and they guarantee it too. That’s a nice perk!

Anyone want to start a pool on which gift card get the most offers to get swapped?

Stag and Hen Weekends

tagged , , , , , and

I just love saying that … Stag and Hen Weekends … sounds absolutely naughty in a woodland creature sort of way.So it’s all about an all girls get away and an all boys get away … and never the two shall meet because … it’s not about meeting others.Boys must be boys and go romp through the great outdoors and do very male things together. While girls must have their princess parties and pajama parties and whatever other themed parties they can come up with.Really, that’s what Stag and Hen Weekends are about, gender specific themed parties and adventurous get togethers. Sounds like a lot of fun to me!

Red Seven Leisure sponsors these events. And again, there’s no affiliate program for these guys … hey, UK affiliate network guys! Call these stags and hens up and get an affiliate program hooked up! This is a great niche and could do really, really well in social networks where people have disposable incomes to go play.

How about a Clay Day? http://www.redsevenleisure.co.uk/packages/index.php?PackageID=597 Nothing says friendship like a little mud under the finger nails, eh?!

So, here’s the concept. You’re going to blog anyhow, right?! So, why not pick a few topics to blog about where you earn a few bucks for your efforts.

Content Monitization

tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , and

Google toss you out on your ear for no good reason? And now you’re looking for another way to monitize your website or your blog?

You should probably take a look at Triond.

Triond is a fairly new content monitization service and covers a wide range of topics:

    1. Recreation
    2. Gaming
    3. Computers
    4. Kids and Teens
    5. Politics
    6. Graphic Design
    7. Social Sciences
    8. Sports
    9. Cooking
    10. News

There are probably more topics, but that should give you some idea of their range to see if your content can match their ads. They’re looking for unique content to publish, so if you’re a writer this is probably a good match for you.

Seems like a straight foward system for publishers. You write content, submit it, if approved they publish it on websites that match the content and that generates revenue all the way around.
