Reminders Calendar Helps Affiliates

American Greetings has come out with a new product for their affiliates to market. It’s an online calendar system that helps the user to remember important dates … dates that they might want to send an email greeting for.

The online calendar is a free service provided to their customers as an added value. Promotional services like that are always helpful to affiliates looking for new marketing angles.

And, one feature that I thought was very cool was that the calendar can send you reminders by text messaging your cell phone. No more forgetting birthdays, anniversaries, and special days. I don’t about you, but that free service would help keep me out of trouble!

The AmericanGreetings.com affiliate program pays a nice 40%-60% commission rate payout for every new subscription. The parent company also owns BlueMountain.com, which is where I have my account, and they offer a combined affiliate program. So, you can promote both services and get paid as one combined affiliate program. That means payouts more often for the affiliates!

Full Disclosure - The Full Montey

I was reading a very interesting article on TechCrunch tonight and thought it was news worthy, and when I saw that PayPerPost was offering me a few bucks to chat about this article that didn’t hurt either. Always nice to get paid for chatting about things I enjoy chatting about. The article is titled “PayPerPost Does Something Right” and it’s referring to the PayPerPost blog. The article is leaking the news that this coming Monday, PayPerPost will be making a significant policy change … and according to Michael Arrington it’s a positive change.

Even more so, I whole heartedly agree with the soon to be announced change.

As of Monday, bloggers who write for PayPerPost will be required to disclose that they are being paid for their posts.

I’ve started to blog about this topic a little when I wrote A Few Posts Here and There, and not because I knew change was coming. I didn’t. I think it’s the ethical thing to do. I think that when a blogger is earning some income through using their posts to feature advertisers, then they should disclose it. We’re kind of the Paul Harvey’s of the blogging world if we don’t make that distinction.

This move by PayPerPost is most likely related to the FTC’s moves to force disclosure of word-of-mouth advertisements.

I actually think a Disclosure Policy is and should be in the making for every blog that runs advertisements on them … and I mean every blog.

Going Full Montey

As some of you know the FTC has made moves to force disclosure of word-of-mouth advertisements. This namely affects bloggers, newletters, ezines and discussion groups … places online where there is a mix of word-of-mouth communication and advertisiments.

I’ve been blogging a little about it myself, and getting paid to do it too I will gladly say.

Here are the links to my posts on this topic: A Few Posts Here and There and
Full Disclosure - Full Montey.

Not every post I make on this particular blog is a paid post, only a few are. But, I think it’s fair and ethical to develop a page dedicated to a Disclosure Policy.

On Monday, there’s going to be a lot of announcements about Disclosure Policies and so, I thought I’d help out the Affiliate Guild and 5 Star folks who might be affected by the FTC’s changes.

A new website has been created to help you develop your own Disclosure Policy and I highly recommend you go there and get your Disclosure Policy done and posted as soon as possible. The advertisers will be requiring it becuase the FTC will require them to only do business will those who disclosed the they are being paid.

Some of you might know who Paul Harvey is. He’s an longtime radio personality. If you’ve ever listened to his show, it’s really hard to tell where his news starts and where his ads take over. He presents ads in the same tone and along side the news. It’s very confusing to people listening to his show.

Bloggers and others, who are paid for their word-of-mouth ads are confusing to their readers … when is it a post that’s paid and when is it not.

We don’t want to be the Paul Harvey’s of the Internet.

There’s nothing wrong with paid ads, and there’s nothing wrong with disclosing that they are paid ads or that your site is running paid ads.

Hot Affiliate Program!

Absolutely one of the coolest affiliate programs I’ve seen in awhile.I say that because I like the products a lot, but why wouldn’t I? I’m a geek at heart!

I never thought of Water Cooling and my computer’s box case in the same thought before, but that’s exactly what Xoxide.com has gotten me to do today.

Water Cooling

It’s a fair simple concept, but you really should click the link to see the photos to get a full idea of how the Water Cooling cases work.

Makes me want to go get some fish!

Pretty Lights

You have to check out the ULTRA 550W X2-Connect Power Supply in Titanium with Aqua Blue UV Lights. It glows! What else does it do? I don’t know. It glows!

I’m kidding, … the ULTRA 550W X2 was designed for ultimate gamer environments, but so is the Xoxide UFO Ultimate Aluminum Cube Computer Case. It glows too!!!

Xoxide Computer Cases

There are a whole host of gamer’s computer cases to be honest with you. This stuff is a really hot market right now.

Their Affiliate Program Information:

Are you a member of LinkConnector? That’s cool because Xoxide uses their tracking software. Their linking options include direct links to specific product pages, sections, or the home page.

Xoxide pays out 8.00% on any affiliate generated revenue. That’s the good news, the bad news is that the cookies set are only good for five days after clicking the affiliate’s link to Xoxide.

Xoxide affiliates are paid through LinkConnector tracking on the 20th of each month.

Affiliates should remember what’s cool about using LinkConnector is their naked link technology. You will have to ask your Affiliate Manager to add you to the Xoxide’s naked link program.

Aaron Wall Sucks … A Little

Well this blog caught my attention with the glaring Aaron Wall Sucks title:

Aaron Wall used to be the SEO Forum moderator for my V7 Network forums.
He was the best SEO forum moderator V7N ever had. He was extremely knowledgable, helpful and his posting style was fun / hilarious. He’d say things like this and this.
Then he went and became Mr Serious and Mr Famous SEO. (… comments edited here)

Yesterday stumbled across a forum post where one member suggested that people should NOT buy Aaron’s SEO Book. The logic offered was that more insightful wisdom was available on SEO forums.
I’ve read Aaron’s SEO book a few times, and each time I learn something. Sure, you can learn a lot on SEO forums. But typically the noise-to-signal ratio on SEO forums is horrible. Read the SEO book and you’ll get a lot more knowledge for the time you spend.
While you’re downloading the ebook, you might want to explore some other areas of Aaron’s fine website, such as his collection of SEO tools and his SEO Glossary. And perhaps sign up for his affiliate program.
